its not the upgraded volume of air that the intercooler can flow that makes the difference, volume of the flow through the intercooler is basically unchanged (depending on resistance). Changing intercoolers doesnt affect the output of the turbo. Its having an increased volume of the intercooler itself that has the effect, not the flow through it. i.e. the surface area of the intercooler is increased, hence the properties I mentioned previously allow for better transfer of heat. Sorry but Boyle has nothing to do with it.
